Brief Biography

Samuel holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Nigeria. He did his master’s program under the supervision of Prof. S.M. Anika and Prof. I.U. Asuzu working on the medicinal plants with anti-inflammatory and trypanocidal activities. After his master’s program, Samuel decided to pursue a doctorate program under the supervision of Prof. I.U. Asuzu and Prof. O. Obidoa, focusing on toxicity of natural products and medicinal plant extracts with special emphasis on hematological and biochemical parameters. He obtained his doctorate degree in 2006 and became a professor in 2011. Currently, his research involves investigation of biomarkers of organ damage associated with the use of natural products and medicinal plants. Natural products and medicinal plants are extensively used for food and medicine in developing countries, especially Africa. There is dearth of knowledge with respect to the adverse effects associated with the use of these substances.  At his spare time, Samuel likes to watch soccer, reading books and playing table and lawn tennis.

Brief Biography

I am a young academia with strong determination to make a positive impact in the world of scientific research. I started my tertiary education in 1999 when I enrolled for Higher Diploma in Animal Health and Husbandry in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Subsequently, in 2009, I obtained a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka with Distinctions in Veterinary Physiology and Veterinary Parasitology and Entomology. Ultimately, I satisfactorily fulfilled the requirements for the award of Masters Degree in Veterinary Physiology on 2nd April, 2014. I have seven research publications both in international and local journals. My academic excellence is well blended with administrative prowess. I held the post of Library Prefect in my Secondary School, Editor-in-Chief of my Departmental Association in my Higher Diploma, and during my DVM years, I rose through different leadership cadres to the post of a Regional President in Scripture Union Campus Fellowship (SUCF), Enugu Region. In the course of my mandatory NYSC experience, Nigerian Christian Corpers’ Fellowship (NCCF), where I served as a Zonal President gave a written testimony of my administrative ability.
